Registered Nurse – Hemodialysis

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Deliver high-quality, patient-focused nursing care to individuals in the hemodialysis unit.

• Conduct assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation throughout the nursing process.

• Adhere to policies and procedures related to patient observations.

• Provide professional, patient-centered care that supports patient safety as well as physiological and psychological well-being.

• Establish therapeutic relationships and create environments in a culturally diverse setting.

• Implement infection control and prevention protocols.

• Respond to emergencies by recognizing changes in patient health status and consulting as needed.

• Educate patients and families on health matters, including comprehensive discharge instructions.

• Collaborate as part of an inter-professional health care team.

• Practice in accordance with Osler policies, regulatory standards set by the College of Nurses, and applicable legislative requirements.

• Develop suitable patient care strategies and advocate for client safety.

• May require travel and work across different Osler locations.

⛳️ Requirements

• Clinical experience acquired within the last five years.

• At least two years of experience in an acute care environment.

• A minimum of one year of recent experience in hemodialysis.

• Nephrology certification is required or proof of enrollment is necessary, with completion expected within 18 months of hire.

• Completion and application of vascular access modules from the Ontario Renal Network.

• Familiarity with Nephrology Nursing Standards and Practice Recommendations, as well as the standards of the Canadian Association of Nephrology Nurses and Technologists as they pertain to hemodialysis.

• Current registration and good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.

• BCLS certification.

• Outstanding interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, conflict-resolution, and decision-making abilities.

• Capacity to work collaboratively as part of an inter-professional team.

• Knowledge of patient and family-centered care principles.

• Experience in patient and family health education.

• Demonstrated leadership and facilitation abilities.

• Strong customer service, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.

• Ability to perform in a fast-paced and stressful environment.

• Aptitude for prioritizing patient care needs and making independent decisions.

• Excellent physical assessment abilities.

• Understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.

• Willingness to work across all Osler locations as required.

• Consistent attendance, punctuality, and a strong work record.

• Familiarity with information systems and technology.

• An 80% score on a nephrology quiz must be achieved prior to the interview.
