Registered Nurse, Clinical Abstraction Specialist – PRN

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Ensure the timely collection and communication of clinical data for chart-abstracted measures, registries, accreditations, and certifications.

• Abstract, analyze, and submit data to guarantee compliance with regulatory agencies, CMS conditions of participation, payor requirements, and medical staff bylaws.

• Identify and communicate data patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement to site-based teams and quality leaders.

• Act as a subject matter expert concerning individual measures and data definitions.

• Engage in data verification and validation processes to ensure accuracy, integrity, and inter-rater reliability.

• Take part in quality improvement initiatives that promote patient safety and address opportunities identified during abstraction, analysis, or synthesis.

• Participate in ongoing education to apply current data definitions effectively.

• Provide clinical expertise for complex data abstraction tasks.

• Carry out other job-related responsibilities as directed by the supervisor.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (required).

• Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) (required).

• Minimum of 1 year of experience in an adult, acute care hospital setting (required).

• At least 1 year of experience in hospital quality (preferred).

• Proficient in clinical abstraction, clinical data, data analysis, data verification, data quality, and data validation.

• Knowledge of professional nursing and electronic medical records.

• Understanding of patient safety and operational definitions.

• Skills in data accuracy, data trends, and quality improvement.

• Strong time management, organizational skills, attention to detail, teamwork, eagerness to learn, communication, and deadline management abilities.

• Familiarity with EPIC - Electronic Health Records (preferred).

• Experience with Premier QMR (preferred).
