This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Alabama, +6 more states.
• Provide support for energy efficiency and renewable energy construction projects across the Southeastern United States.
• Supervise the development of site-specific safety plans and activity hazard analyses.
• Ensure adherence to safety policies and established standards.
• Formulate and execute both long-term strategies and short-term plans for the continuous enhancement of safety, health, and environmental compliance.
• Verify that personal protective equipment (PPE) complies with applicable OSHA regulations and that employees receive training on its proper usage.
• Carry out safety audits at designated project sites.
• Make certain that incidents are reported, investigated, analyzed for root causes, and that corrective actions are implemented.
• Assess subcontractor safety qualifications and participate in pre-construction meetings.
• Collaborate with project supervision and management to develop solutions for safety issues.
• Promote and sustain a positive safety culture.
• Maintain safety certifications as required by contracts.
• Conduct monthly safety meetings for project personnel.
• Travel up to 75% to assist with safety operations.
• Perform additional duties as necessary.
• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & health engineering or a related field; or a combination of education and relevant work experience equivalent to this level.
• At least seven (7) years of progressively responsible EHS experience in construction, renewable energy, industrial, manufacturing, utility, or energy-related operations.
• Proven experience in supporting utility-scale or commercial solar PV construction projects, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and/or solar operations and maintenance (O&M) activities.
• Strong understanding of electrical safety, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures, arc flash hazard mitigation, and energized work practices.
• Experience applying OSHA Construction (29 CFR 1926) and General Industry (29 CFR 1910) standards is preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, Procore, and other basic computer applications.
• Demonstrated experience with OSHA compliance.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong writing abilities with proper grammar.
• Current OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification is mandatory.
• Current First Aid & CPR certification is required.
• Valid driver's license in good standing issued by the state of residence.
• Advanced OSHA certifications such as OSHA 510 and OSHA 511 are preferred.
• Certifications such as CSP, ASP, SMS, or other recognized professional safety designations are preferred.
• Board Certified Safety Professional certifications like CHST and OHST are preferred.
