Regional Relief Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Safely and legally operate Air Methods aircraft.

• Verify that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for transporting medical personnel and patients to receiving hospitals within the designated operational area.

• Conduct pre-flight inspections and complete the Daily Flight Log.

• Perform thorough walk-arounds of the aircraft before entering the cockpit and after each flight.

• Hold final authority on aircraft operations and the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Stay well-informed about the aircraft and medical systems of backup aircraft.

• Ensure that the medical flight team is knowledgeable and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in detailed flight planning with minimal notice to meet high standards.

• Actively participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.

• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

• Maintain regular attendance and adhere to an irregular schedule of 7 shifts within a 2-week pay period.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• Must maintain a weight not exceeding 250 pounds.

• Candidates must be under seventy (70) years of age.

• Pilots must have flown in category for a commercial operator or in the military within the last 24 months.

• A total of 2000 flight hours is required, with at least 1500 flight hours in category.

• 1000 hours of Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time in category.

• 500 hours of turbine rotor wing time.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, with a minimum of 50 hours at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night as PIC; 50 hours may be substituted with 100 hours of NVG time, but unaided time cannot be less than 50 hours.

• 50 hours of total actual or hood instrument time in flight and in category; simulator time is not applicable.

• Commercial & Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft; an ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement.

• A First or Second Class FAA Medical certificate is mandatory.

• Must adhere to FAR, AIM, GOM, and Air Methods policies and procedures.

• Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing.
