Regional Relief Helicopter Pilot

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut, +12 more states.

📋 Description

• Operate Air Methods aircraft in a safe and compliant manner.

• Confirm that aircraft and weather conditions are suitable for the transport of medical crews and patients to designated hospitals within the assigned operational area.

• Carry out pre-flight inspections and validate aircraft airworthiness through the Daily Flight Log.

• Conduct a thorough aircraft walk-around prior to cockpit entry and after each flight.

• Hold final authority over aircraft operations and ensure the safety of passengers, cargo, and equipment.

• Maintain an up-to-date understanding of aircraft and medical backup systems utilized in the operational area.

• Ensure that the medical flight team is well-acquainted and comfortable with the medical interior and systems.

• Complete all necessary documentation.

• Engage in detailed flight planning on short notice, adhering to stringent standards.

• Participate in Air Methods meetings, activities, projects, committees, and community outreach initiatives.

• Execute additional duties as assigned.

• Maintain consistent attendance, working 7 shifts within a 2-week pay period.

• No supervisory responsibilities.

⛳️ Requirements

• Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school, along with two to five years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

• The pilot must reside in or be willing to relocate to North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, or Pennsylvania.

• Weight must not exceed 250 pounds, and the candidate must be under seventy (70) years of age.

• Must have operated in category for a commercial operator or in the military within the last 24 months.

• 2000 total flight hours, including a minimum of 1500 flight hours in category.

• 1000 hours as Pilot in Command (PIC) in category.

• 500 hours of rotor wing turbine flight time.

• 200 hours of cross-country flight time, including at least 50 hours at night.

• 100 hours of unaided night flight time as PIC, with specified NVG substitution option.

• 50 hours of actual or hood instrument flight time in flight and in category, with specified fixed-wing substitution option.

• Commercial & Instrument Rating for the category and class of aircraft; ATP rating in category satisfies this requirement.

• A First OR Second Class FAA Medical certificate is required.

• Familiarity with Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR), Aeronautical Information Manual (AIM), General Operations Manual guidelines (GOM), and Air Methods policies and procedures.

• Regular scheduled attendance is expected, with an irregular schedule of 7 shifts in a 2-week pay period.

• Subject to DOT/FAA drug and/or alcohol testing requirements.
