Regional Operations Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of and manage regional P&L and KPIs across 12 hospitals in New Jersey.

• Mentor hospital leaders and ensure accountability for their performance.

• Discover growth opportunities and enhance services, appointments, capacity, labor, inventory, and workflows.

• Improve doctor productivity while upholding medical excellence and patient outcomes.

• Oversee pricing strategies, discount governance, and fee structures.

• Utilize financial, operational, and medical-quality data to inform decisions and minimize risks.

• Implement VCA and United in Care enterprise initiatives throughout the hospitals.

• Provide outstanding experiences for clients and Associates while delivering top-notch medical care.

• Exemplify VCA’s mission and The Five Principles of Mars, Inc.

• Cultivate partnerships with hospital leaders and enhance leadership capabilities.

• Direct the regional talent strategy, encompassing doctor and hospital-leader recruitment, succession, growth, and retention.

• Guide leaders in performance management, engagement, culture, employment law compliance, and organizational standards.

• Work collaboratively with GVP, Medical Operations, Patient Care, and Marketing leaders as part of the Triad of Care.

• Ensure alignment of operational decisions with medical priorities and enhance medical outcomes using quality metrics and NPS insights.

• Assist in veterinarian onboarding, engagement, retention, and the success of new graduates.

• Address non-medical client escalations effectively.

• Initiate regional marketing efforts and community involvement.

• Share best practices and promote a culture of continuous improvement.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree / MBA or DVM or a degree in healthcare.

• 8+ years of experience driving multi-unit operational performance with comprehensive P&L responsibility; 10+ years preferred.

• Advanced digital proficiency with productivity platforms, including MS365 and cloud-based tools.

• Strong expertise in data and analytics platforms, particularly Excel and Power BI; preferred.

• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

• Willingness to relocate for career advancement.

• Experience in the veterinary, healthcare, or related service industry preferred.

• Understanding of hospital operations, P&L management, pricing execution, contract coordination, revenue optimization, and labor management.

• Capacity to learn and adapt to new technologies and company systems.

• Strong analytical abilities using financial, operational, and medical performance data.

• Capacity to align operational decisions with medical objectives.

• Excellent communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts into actionable guidance.

• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

• Good hand-eye coordination, dexterity in arms, hands, and fingers, as well as visual acuity.

• Ability to work in environments with airborne particles, potential illness from patients, and exposure to animal-care and office-equipment chemicals.

• Willingness to travel within the United States up to 75% of the time.
