Regional Aviation Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Manage and provide support for aviation operations across the Northeast region.

• Maintain aircraft qualifications and operational readiness while assisting frontline operations through occasional flight duty assignments.

• Aid in the organization, direction, and administration of aviation activities and personnel.

• Concentrate on regional safety and training initiatives.

• Ensure operations adhere to regulations, operational specifications, and the General Operations Manual.

• Participate as a member of the Air Methods management team.

• Research and report on FRx budget versus actual variances to the Director of Operations.

• Ensure the completion of aviation management tasks for base initiation, closure, and relocation.

• Distribute and update the Operations Manual and Operations Specifications, and complete Publications Verification Forms.

• Oversee aircraft integration, availability, and ensure trained pilots meet operational needs.

• Delegate aviation field logistical tasks to the Area Manager.

• Attend or assign representation for fleet status teleconferences and monitor the KPI Dashboard.

• Collaborate with the Pilot Training team to coordinate pilot training.

• Work with the Regional Safety Director to address safety concerns and assist in eliminating unsafe practices.

• Contribute to aviation mishap investigations and root cause analyses.

• Submit necessary flight personnel reports to the Regional Aviation Director.

• Monitor aviation personnel behavior and performance for compliance with policies.

• Ensure pilots utilize the 411 system effectively.

• Rectify audit deficiencies and compliance issues.

• Coordinate training for medical crewmembers and communication specialists while monitoring CTS compliance.

• Conduct training for Air Medical Resource Management.

• Ensure in-service training and maintain accurate training records before returning backup aircraft to service.

• Conduct or coordinate ferry and MOC flights.

• Monitor and respond to AIDMOR submissions.

• Coordinate the resolution of mechanical irregularities with Regional Maintenance leadership.

• Complete initial GPS update subscriptions for assigned aircraft.

• Serve as the on-scene representative for accidents and incidents.

• Educate pilots on SMS and ASAP programs.

• Supervise Aviation department employees directly, including hiring, training, work assignments, performance evaluations, discipline, and problem resolution.

• Maintain flexible availability, including meeting 24/7 operational requirements.

• Carry out other duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, coupled with eight to ten years of relevant experience and/or training; or a comparable combination of education and experience in aviation and air medical transport.

• A minimum of 2,500 flight hours.

• At least two (2) years of experience in a Part 135 operation.

• Possession of an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate (Airplane or Rotorcraft).

• FAA Second Class Medical certification.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

• Strong oral and written communication skills.

• Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions aligned with essential job functions.

• Skill in preparing written reports, correspondence, and presentations for senior leadership.

• Objective assessment skills regarding operations, maintenance, fuel quality, Communication Specialist personnel, and safety issues.
