Referral Coordinator

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Confirm the eligibility of patient insurance for various procedures and consultations.

• Initiate and monitor referral requests via pre-authorization processes.

• Conduct weekly follow-ups on outstanding referrals and liaise with external providers as necessary.

• Manage and transmit incoming and outgoing referral documentation via fax.

• Address referral-related inquiries from the call center and clinic schedulers.

• Oversee email correspondence among multiple departments and record updates in the EMR system.

• Collaborate closely with team members in scheduling, billing, and the business office.

• Attend monthly bookkeeping meetings.

• Offer general backup assistance to the Business Office.

• Handle business office phone calls and support additional tasks as required.

• Help ensure the provision of timely, authorized care to minimize patient delays, streamline provider workflows, and enhance the overall care experience.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 1 year of experience in healthcare or medical billing is preferred.

• Comprehensive understanding of health insurance procedures and referral processes.

• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

• Capability to operate standard office equipment (computer, fax machine, printer, phone).

• Exceptional communication, follow-up, and documentation abilities.

• Familiarity with EMR and referral tracking systems is preferred.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational capabilities.

• Display empathy, patience, and a customer-service oriented attitude.

• Self-driven with the ability to prioritize tasks in a remote environment.

• Applicants must reside in Washington state.
