React Front End Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop the Solve shared visual workspace and a collaborative real-time canvas.

• Deliver frontend code within the canvas and collaboration layer.

• Collaborate closely with the technical lead, architect, and quality assurance team.

• Implement canvas interactions such as panning, zooming, dragging, selection, spatial layout, and rich interactive cards.

• Maintain high performance for the canvas with hundreds of live cards.

• Manage frontend state involving transient interactions, persistent product state, and server-authoritative data.

• Execute real-time collaboration features that include presence detection, optimistic updates, reconnections, missed-event recovery, and conflict resolution.

• Oversee client-side handling of Server-Sent Events, which includes EventSource, heartbeats, token-authenticated streams, and backoff reconnect strategies.

• Assist in determining the appropriate use of WebSockets.

• Create AI-facing interfaces for streaming output, agent status, partial results, approvals, and recovery mechanisms.

• Ensure performance, accessibility, and a robust testing strategy.

• Implement the per-entity patch wire over Server-Sent Events.

• Introduce optimistic apply with resynchronization for missed events.

• Develop a queue for pending edits that persists across reloads.

• Address data-loss issues across loading, save-conflict, and live-update pathways.

• Prototype, streamline, and maintain clear systems with specifications, designs, and tests.

⛳️ Requirements

• Extensive experience in senior frontend engineering.

• Profound expertise in React (or a similar framework).

• Solid understanding of browser state management.

• Proven experience in creating complex interactive products such as canvases, editors, maps, design tools, whiteboards, or collaborative applications.

• Knowledge of state ownership, rendering, browser performance, component decomposition, and interactions prone to failure.

• Experience with collaborative software authority and conflict resolution protocols.

• Background in shipping real-time event handling using WebSockets or Server-Sent Events.

• Understanding of event ordering, reconnections, and recovery from missed events in unreliable network conditions.

• Familiarity with coding agents and AI-related frontend challenges.

• Ability to design API request and response structures in collaboration with backend teams.

• Comprehension of idempotency and optimistic concurrency principles.

• Skill in determining which side should own specific pieces of state.

• Technical knowledge of monorepos, continuous integration, quality gates, feature flags, and design systems is advantageous.

• Must be eligible to work in the UK.

• Availability for a 3-month contract.
