React Developer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Washington.

📋 Description

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs in accordance with platform architecture.

• Take full ownership of feature delivery, overseeing the process from design to deployment and ongoing support.

• Troubleshoot and address production issues, pinpointing root causes and executing solutions.

• Implement testing, optimize performance, and adhere to secure coding practices.

• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, enhance monitoring, and improve system reliability.

• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, and other engineering teams to create effective solutions.

• Engage in technical design discussions and offer input on solution strategies.

• Mentor junior engineers, including Software Engineers I, providing guidance and support.

• Design components and services that fit within the established architecture, making independent technical choices within predefined patterns.

• Deliver scalable services and features that drive Varsity Brands’ digital platform.

• Enhance platform consistency, reusability, and performance across engineering teams.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• 2-5+ years of professional experience in software engineering.

• Strong grasp of backend systems and service-oriented architecture.

• Familiarity with cloud environments and distributed systems.

• Knowledge of system design principles and data modeling.

• Proficient in Java and backend development frameworks.

• Capability to design and develop RESTful APIs.

• Skill in optimizing system performance and scalability.

• Ability to implement testing strategies and debugging methodologies.

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and managing production systems.

• Competence in independently resolving moderately complex technical issues.

• Skill in diagnosing root causes and executing effective solutions.

• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

• Capability to mentor and support junior engineers.
