Railroad Civil Designer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Collaborate with a diverse team in the design and analysis of rail engineering initiatives.

• Partner with contractors and construction personnel on design/build projects.

• Oversee project management for track design initiatives, ensuring quality control, engineering design, construction specifications, and adherence to project budgets.

• Utilize MicroStation/OpenRoads to develop aerial concept drawings and design plan/profile sheets, complete with notes and callouts.

• Establish roadway modeler templates, generate cross sections, and specify mass grading requirements for track projects.

• Produce engineering project drawings and aid in creating digital maps from survey data.

• Execute plan updates and modifications for submission to railway authorities.

• Coordinate client updates, manage project schedules, and facilitate design team collaboration.

• Draft plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

• Oversee rail development design projects.

• Conduct self-reviews for completeness and precision, adhering to established drawing standards.

• Assist in estimating engineering efforts for proposal submissions.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in the civil engineering sector.

• High School Diploma or equivalent qualification.

• Completion of a technical trade school in CAD, drafting, or a related discipline.

• At least 5 years of relevant work experience.

• An equivalent combination of experience and training that equips the candidate with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.

• Proficient in MicroStation/OpenRoads software.

• Competent in preparing drawings, exhibits, design plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates.

• Capable of working with survey data sets and digital mapping.

• Skilled in project management, quality control, construction specifications, and project budgeting.

• Willingness to travel.

• Possession of a valid personal vehicle, with implied reimbursement for personal vehicle use.
