Senior Mechanical Designer – Nuclear Power

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Collaborate under the guidance of the Mechanical Project Lead alongside multi-disciplinary engineering and design project teams.

• Create mechanical physical layout drawings using a 3-D model.

• Design mechanical systems while identifying, troubleshooting, and resolving mechanical design challenges.

• Employ 3D modeling software tools to produce mechanical design schematics.

• Serve as the lead for the Mechanical design team, coordinating detailed design phases for all components of an integrated mechanical design model.

• Oversee and direct other designers and project team members to ensure comprehensive and timely design completion.

• Independently plan and deliver design outputs, including general arrangements, piping isometrics, piping composites, pipe support drawings, and equipment location drawings.

• Perform field walkdowns and gather data at client locations when necessary.

• Provide mentorship to less experienced drafters and designers.

⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma coupled with 1 or more years of drafting coursework or equivalent technical experience.

• A minimum of ten years of detailed physical design experience in the creation of mechanical general arrangements, piping systems, and supports.

• Proficient in design software tools for developing 3D plant layout models.

• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment, including outlines and interface points, as well as coordinating and producing the related deliverables.

• Capability to collaborate with engineering and design teams from other disciplines during the power plant design process.

• Proficiency in MicroStation is beneficial but not mandatory.

• Familiarity with AI, automation, programming, or similar technologies is advantageous where applicable but not essential.
