
Rail Replacement Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.
• Oversee and manage rail replacement bus services to ensure adherence to timetables, consistent headways, and dependable service delivery.
• Organize drivers and vehicles for proper positioning, readiness, and compliance with schedules, routes, and directives.
• Assist passengers by providing information about replacement services, facilitating boarding arrangements, and coordinating onward connections.
• Address delays, congestion, breakdowns, missing vehicles, road closures, and other operational challenges.
• Coordinate standby resources as necessary.
• Communicate effectively with Controllers, drivers, Control, station staff, and stakeholders, escalating service delivery concerns as needed.
• Ensure safe boarding, alighting, and interchange arrangements for passengers.
• Monitor departures, passenger demand, service gaps, and vehicle utilization, implementing corrective measures when required.
• Deliver clear information to passengers and support accessibility needs.
• Respond to accidents, incidents, emergencies, and significant service failures, escalating critical issues appropriately.
• Keep accurate records of delays, incidents, lost journeys, passenger counts, standby deployments, and other operational matters.
• Collaborate with station teams, clients, transport authorities, subcontractors, and operational partners.
• Maintain a visible, professional, and proactive presence while representing Transport UK London Bus.
• Reports directly to the Commercial Services Support Manager.
• Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
• Capability to remain composed and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.
• Proficiency in monitoring and regulating services to ensure punctuality and even headways.
• Solid understanding of operational and passenger safety protocols.
• Ability to manage disruptions, including delays, breakdowns, and absent vehicles.
• Capacity to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within a broader operational team.
• Confidence in using mobile devices and operational communication systems.
• Keen attention to detail with the ability to accurately follow timetables and operational directives.
• Familiarity with bus, rail replacement, or public transport operations is preferred.
• Knowledge of the London transport network would be beneficial.
• A proactive, professional, and customer-oriented approach.
• Must possess a smartphone device.
