Financial Controller

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in South Africa.

📋 Description

• Assume responsibility for daily financial management and accounting functions.

• Oversee and evaluate financial transactions, expenditures, and reconciliations.

• Ensure financial records are accurate and maintained up to date.

• Generate and assess financial reports to aid in business decision-making.

• Track financial performance and recognize unusual patterns, discrepancies, or potential risks.

• Analyze expenditures and pinpoint opportunities for cost reductions and enhanced efficiency.

• Assist in enhancing financial processes, controls, and reporting mechanisms.

• Investigate discrepancies and ensure issues are resolved effectively.

• Deliver clear financial insights to stakeholders without a financial background.

• Guarantee adherence to financial processes in a consistent and precise manner.

• Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, questioning expenditures or processes as necessary.

• Take the initiative on financial matters and proactively seek solutions.

• Maintain a strong focus on detail while considering the broader commercial context.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of pertinent experience in Financial Control, Accounting, Finance Management, or a related field.

• Solid hands-on experience with QuickBooks or a similar accounting system.

• Proven experience in managing financial transactions, reconciliations, and expenditures.

• Strong skills in financial analysis and reporting.

• Background in identifying cost-saving opportunities or enhancing financial processes.

• Ability to detect unusual trends, discrepancies, and financial risks.

• High attention to detail and focus on accuracy.

• Good commercial insight and the ability to grasp the bigger picture.

• Experience working autonomously and taking charge of a financial function.

• Strong organizational skills and commitment to follow-through.

• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.

• Familiarity with other accounting and financial software.

• Possession of CA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional certification is a plus but not mandatory.
