Quality Assurance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United Kingdom.

📋 Description

• Develop and take ownership of the QA strategy across the NedGraphics and Optitex product lines.

• Drive a strategic transformation of the QA function into a modern, automation-driven, AI-enabled operation.

• Foster a culture focused on quality within the team and the broader engineering organization.

• Define standards, processes, and quality gates for product launches.

• Collaborate with engineering leads and Product Managers to incorporate QA throughout the development lifecycle.

• Provide direction for the team and support individual development.

• Oversee performance management, conduct 1:1 meetings, and facilitate career growth for a team of 5 QA engineers.

• Increase automation coverage across the entire product suite.

• Create the automation roadmap and guide the current automation engineer.

• Identify and implement AI-assisted testing tools.

• Minimize dependence on manual regression testing.

• Contribute to test design, execution, and defect analysis on complex features.

• Maintain a close connection to the product portfolio and establish standards for testing quality.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven track record of leading or managing a QA team, preferably having established or significantly transformed a QA function from the ground up.

• Demonstrated experience in crafting or implementing a QA strategy, rather than merely adhering to one.

• Hands-on experience in software testing; this position is a player-coach role.

• Strong experience in testing native desktop applications.

• Familiarity with at least one test automation framework for UI desktop applications, such as WinAppDriver, Appium, Squish by Qt Group, or a comparable alternative.

• Proficient in Python and shell scripting for developing and maintaining test automation.

• Ability to integrate the automation framework into a broader AI-driven build flow, utilizing tools such as Azure DevOps, Cursor, and Claude cloud agents.

• Excellent communication skills with the capacity to influence engineers, PMs, and senior stakeholders.

• A history of enhancing QA processes and delivering measurable outcomes.

• Experience in effectively collaborating across multiple time zones with a globally distributed team, including asynchronous communication and flexible scheduling.

• Prior experience in leading a team, with a clear strategy for setting direction, delegating tasks, and nurturing talent.

• Experience or genuine interest in AI-assisted testing tools.

• Background in software product companies, ideally with portfolios of desktop applications.

• Familiarity with agile or scrum delivery methodologies.

• Experience in building an automation capability from scratch.

• Knowledge of Azure DevOps for tracking work items, managing test plans, and integrating pipelines.
