Quality Assurance Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Netherlands.

📋 Description

• Develop and oversee the QA strategy for the NedGraphics and Optitex product lines.

• Spearhead the strategic evolution of QA into a contemporary, automation-driven, AI-enabled operation, complete with a roadmap and milestones.

• Foster a quality-centric culture within the QA team and the broader engineering organization.

• Create standards, processes, and quality gates for product launches.

• Work in conjunction with engineering leads and Product Managers throughout the development lifecycle.

• Provide direction for the team and facilitate individual development.

• Oversee performance management, conduct one-on-one meetings, and support the career growth of 5 QA engineers.

• Increase automation coverage across the product suite.

• Define the automation roadmap and guide the current automation engineer.

• Discover and implement AI-assisted testing tools.

• Minimize dependence on manual regression testing.

• Participate in test design, execution, and defect analysis for complex features.

• Maintain close engagement with the product portfolio and offer quality assessments.

• Establish benchmarks for effective testing.

⛳️ Requirements

• Demonstrated experience leading or managing a QA team, ideally having built or significantly transformed a QA function from the ground up.

• Proven experience in developing or implementing QA strategy, rather than merely following one: you understand what excellence looks like and can showcase a history of setting the course yourself.

• Hands-on experience in software testing; this role requires a player-coach approach.

• Extensive experience in testing native desktop applications.

• Familiarity with at least one test automation framework for UI desktop applications (e.g., WinAppDriver, Appium, Squish by Qt Group, or equivalent).

• Proficient in Python and shell scripting for developing and maintaining test automation.

• Capability to integrate the automation framework into a broader AI agentic-based build flow, utilizing tools like Azure DevOps, Cursor, and Claude cloud agents.

• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence engineers, PMs, and senior stakeholders.

• A history of enhancing QA processes and achieving measurable outcomes.

• Experience in collaborating effectively across multiple time zones with a globally distributed team, including asynchronous interactions and flexible scheduling.

• Previous experience leading a team, with a clear methodology for setting direction, delegating tasks, and nurturing talent.

• Experience with AI-assisted testing tools or a genuine interest in adopting them.

• Background in software product companies, preferably with desktop application portfolios.

• Exposure to agile or scrum delivery methodologies.

• Experience in building automation capabilities from the ground up.

• Familiarity with Azure DevOps for work item tracking, test plans, and pipeline integration.
