This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in California.
• Conduct objective, independent medical-legal evaluations for injured workers within the California Workers’ Compensation system.
• Carry out comprehensive medical examinations when necessary.
• Review medical records, diagnostic studies, previous treatments, and other pertinent documentation.
• Gather medical histories and perform targeted physical examinations.
• Evaluate medical evidence.
• Provide impartial medical opinions within the physician’s area of expertise.
• Address medical-legal inquiries.
• Create accurate, comprehensive, and well-supported QME reports.
• Adhere to California DWC rules, regulations, and QME standards.
• Maintain relevant documentation and uphold professional standards.
• Meet expectations regarding report completion and turnaround time.
• Engage in supplemental reports, depositions, or provide testimony when necessary.
• Keep current QME certification and required professional credentials.
• Coordinate with the medical-legal support team concerning case requirements.
• Valid, unrestricted California physician license (MD or DO).
• Board certification or board eligibility in an eligible specialty, or other qualifications that meet relevant DWC criteria.
• Capability to achieve and maintain California QME certification, if not already certified.
• Strong clinical expertise in your specialty.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities.
• Strong analytical and critical-thinking capabilities.
• Ability to assess medical information objectively and independently.
• Keen attention to detail.
• Professional dedication to impartial, evidence-based medical opinions.
• Ability to fulfill report completion and turnaround expectations.
• Physicians must independently meet applicable California QME eligibility and certification requirements.
• Preferred: Current California QME certification.
• Preferred: Previous experience in QME, AME, IME, or other medical-legal roles.
• Preferred: Familiarity with California Workers’ Compensation.
• Preferred: Experience in preparing medical-legal reports.
• Preferred: Background in providing deposition or expert testimony.
• Preferred: Knowledge of California DWC regulations and QME requirements.
• Preferred: Strong report-writing capabilities.
• Preferred: Established clinical practice in a sought-after specialty.
