QA / QC Technician

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Assess survey drawings, field data, and project deliverables to ensure they are accurate, complete, consistent, and in line with specifications and standards.

• Confirm coordinate systems, boundary closures, title exceptions, and other essential survey elements prior to the release of final deliverables.

• Detect discrepancies, errors, or incomplete information and relay findings to the relevant team members.

• Conduct thorough redline reviews and ensure that corrections are integrated into final outputs.

• Assist in project audits and validate documentation compliance with client, company, and regulatory mandates.

• Adhere to company standards and procedures outlined in the Operations Manual.

• Collaborate with surveyors, project leadership, drafting teams, and field personnel to enhance and implement quality-control processes.

• Create, maintain, and revise QC checklists, templates, procedures, and documentation standards.

• Monitor recurring errors, quality issues, and production trends, and communicate findings to leadership.

• Suggest process enhancements to boost accuracy, consistency, efficiency, and production quality.

• Establish consistent QA/QC practices throughout survey production activities.

• Educate and mentor team members on QA/QC expectations, redline reviews, data integrity, and quality standards.

• Participate in the onboarding and mentoring of new hires.

• Share technical expertise and best practices with drafting, field, and project teams.

• Offer technical assistance and problem-solving support to address quality issues and meet production timelines.

• Advocate for quality and continuous improvement within the team.


⛳️ Requirements

• An Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred; equivalent relevant work experience may also be considered.

• Over 3 years of experience in land surveying, survey drafting, quality control, or a related technical field.

• Strong grasp of land surveying principles, survey drawings, field data, coordinate systems, boundary information, and data management.

• Experience in reviewing technical drawings and identifying discrepancies or quality concerns.

• Familiarity with CAD drafting; AutoCAD experience is preferred.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

• Experience with Trello, SharePoint, Power BI, and other survey or project-management software.

• Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to identify and rectify discrepancies in technical data and project deliverables.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Capability to provide clear, professional, and constructive feedback across teams.

• Highly organized and process-oriented, with the ability to manage multiple reviews and priorities while ensuring accuracy.

• Ability to work collaboratively with surveyors, drafting teams, field personnel, project coordinators, and leadership.

• Strong problem-solving abilities and capacity to assist production teams in adhering to deadlines without compromising quality.

• Willingness and capability to train, coach, and mentor team members on quality standards and best practices.

• Flexibility to travel to field locations as necessary.

• Capability to work for extended periods in a typical office environment, including prolonged sitting and computer use.

• Ability to conduct detailed computer-based reviews of survey drawings, technical documentation, and project data.

• Compliance with relevant company safety policies and OSHA standards.
