QA Lead – Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Lead a team consisting of 3–5 QA Engineers.

• Take responsibility for the ongoing enhancement of testing methodologies across functional, regression, integration, API, automation, and edge-case testing.

• Prioritize tasks, balance workloads, provide technical guidance, and mentor QA Engineers.

• Manage QA sign-off and ensure deployment readiness.

• Assess test results, defects, acceptance criteria, and release risks to make informed go/no-go recommendations based on data.

• Engage in sprint planning and evaluate requirements for their testability.

• Identify potential gaps and raise quality concerns prior to the completion of development.

• Set actionable defect-reporting standards that include reproduction steps, logs, network payloads, environmental details, and supporting evidence.

• Review, enhance, and phase out regression tests to maintain effective and relevant coverage.

• Develop and scale automation strategies utilizing Playwright and TypeScript/JavaScript.

• Relay testing results, defects, and release risks to Product, Engineering, and business leadership.

• Establish testing processes, documentation, logging, and traceability that are suitable for both internal assessments and external audits.

⛳️ Requirements

• 5–10 years of practical experience in Quality Assurance.

• A minimum of 2 years in a leadership or management role within QA/engineering teams.

• Demonstrated experience in owning test planning, strategy, execution, and ensuring release readiness.

• Experience in building, developing, or scaling QA teams and processes.

• Solid understanding of functional, regression, integration, API, and risk-based testing.

• Experience collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams in Agile/Scrum settings.

• Ability to lead while remaining technically involved when necessary.

• Proficiency in Playwright is strongly preferred.

• Familiarity with Cypress and/or Selenium.

• Experience with TypeScript / JavaScript.

• Proficiency in API testing and using Postman.

• Knowledge of network payloads, logs, and API traces.

• Experience with Jira and test management platforms such as TestRail.

• Familiarity with CI/CD environments including Jenkins and/or GitHub Actions.

• SQL or database validation experience is a plus.

• Experience with New Relic or similar application performance monitoring tools.

• Valuable experience in a regulated, compliance-driven, or high-risk software environment.

• Familiarity with SOC 2, audit requirements, data integrity, traceability matrices, security/privacy considerations, or auditable test documentation is a strong plus.
