Senior QA Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Mexico, +2 more countries.

📋 Description

• Take ownership of the entire test strategy throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

• Develop and manage test coverage utilizing established open-source testing tools.

• Create a testing strategy, draft test cases, and automate testing processes.

• Integrate automated tests into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure tests are executed with every significant change.

• Write and maintain comprehensive test cases and test plans.

• Plan and conduct integration, system, regression, stress, load, and performance testing.

• Collaborate with developers to establish acceptance criteria and promote early testing.

• Analyze failures and facilitate root-cause investigations for defects that have escaped detection.

• Promote lasting solutions and report actionable quality metrics such as coverage, flake rates, and escaped defects.

• Evaluate existing test coverage and identify critical gaps within the first 90 days.

⛳️ Requirements

• Strong expertise in test automation, with a proven history of devising and implementing test strategies using well-known open-source testing tools.

• In-depth, practical knowledge of the SDLC and the role of testing in each phase.

• Demonstrated experience in writing test cases and formulating test plans.

• Hands-on proficiency in various types of testing: integration, system, regression, as well as stress and performance testing.

• Experience in integrating automated tests within CI/CD pipelines.

• Excellent communication skills — capable of directly engaging with developers and articulating compelling arguments for quality assurance.

• Adequate experience with programming languages such as Python and JavaScript/TypeScript.

• Familiar with open-source testing frameworks like Playwright, Cypress, pytest, k6, or Locust.

• Exposure to testing cloud-based or containerized environments, particularly with Kubernetes.

• Experience in supporting a SOC 2 or equivalent compliance initiative by generating testing evidence.

• Background in enterprise or regulated settings.

• Experience in early-stage companies where a single individual oversees a wide range of testing responsibilities.
