QA Automation Engineer – Mobile, Web

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ukraine.

📋 Description

• Establish QA strategy, processes, testing plans, and release criteria for both mobile and web platforms.

• Create, develop, and sustain scalable automated UI, API, and integration test suites for Android, iOS, and web.

• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD build pipelines.

• Conduct exploratory, regression, and release testing using actual devices.

• Evaluate video playback, in-app purchases, and A/B test variations.

• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Design teams to embed quality within the development process.

• Monitor and report on quality metrics, flaky tests, and crash patterns.

• Promote continuous quality enhancement.

• Assume ownership of quality across Android, iOS, and web clients as the inaugural QA hire.

• Determine testing strategies, select tools, and construct the automation framework from scratch.

• Work in tandem with the multi-platform engineering team utilizing Kotlin Multiplatform.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 4 years of experience in QA.

• 3+ years of practical test automation experience.

• Demonstrated experience in testing and automating native mobile applications (Android and iOS) at scale in production environments.

• Familiarity with Appium and/or native frameworks like Espresso and XCUITest.

• Expertise in web automation, preferably with Playwright.

• Experience in API testing, such as using Postman.

• Proficient in executing automated tests within CI/CD pipelines, including GitHub Actions.

• Strong coding abilities in at least one of Kotlin, Java, TypeScript/JavaScript, Python, or Swift.

• Daily utilization of AI tools, such as Claude, Cursor, or Copilot for test writing, maintenance, and scaling.

• Comprehensive understanding of QA methodologies, test design, and the complete software development lifecycle.

• Experience in fast-paced, agile settings, ideally in consumer-facing mobile applications, gaming, or entertainment.

• Capability to work independently and efficiently in a remote environment.

• Excellent proficiency in written and spoken English.

• Strong product insight and a discerning eye for user experience.

• Experience as the first or sole QA engineer in a startup is a significant advantage.

• Direct involvement with streaming platforms or video technologies, including HLS video playback testing, is a considerable advantage.

• Familiarity with testing in-app purchases and subscriptions, including Google Play Billing and StoreKit, is a considerable advantage.

• Experience with Maestro for mobile UI testing is a considerable advantage.

• Familiarity with cloud device farms such as BrowserStack or Firebase Test Lab is a considerable advantage.
