This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Connecticut.
• Evaluate, prioritize, and process purchase requests based on cost, timing, and competitive bidding.
• Execute vendor orders, which may include controlled substances, prescription medications, and radioactive materials.
• Verify prices, availability, and delivery in accordance with procurement policies and relevant guidelines.
• Revise purchase orders and ensure accurate tracking of supplies, orders, receipts, sales, and vendors.
• Monitor orders to guarantee that materials and services arrive on the agreed dates.
• Collaborate with vendors and end users to address daily procurement challenges.
• Organize on-campus vendor exhibitions.
• Provide guidance and support to end users regarding procurement processes and necessary documentation.
• Assist with user training and troubleshooting.
• Explore new sources for supplies and services while securing advantageous terms.
• Schedule maintenance and services for equipment.
• Adjust grant encumbrances and carry them over to the next fiscal year.
• Manage the catalog library and maintain filing systems.
• Aid in the upkeep of the maintenance stock room and the operations of the receiving dock.
• Undertake special projects and contribute to training colleagues.
• High school diploma or GED; a combination of education and experience may be taken into account.
• More than 5 years of experience in a similar role.
• Ability to derive solutions from a broad range of experiences, adjust methods to address complex issues, and resolve them promptly.
• Proven ability to mentor and train others.
• Skilled in negotiating optimal prices and services while adhering to Laboratory procurement policies and procedures.
• Established ability to organize time effectively, work under pressure, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks.
• Demonstrated capacity to manage special projects and see them through to completion.
• Competence in conducting basic information research, gathering and compiling data, and preparing reports.
• Exceptional organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and precise data entry capabilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with both internal customers and external suppliers.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Proficient in using computer hardware and business software applications.
• A team player who exhibits positive and professional behavior, possesses the judgment to recognize the limits of responsibility, and can appropriately direct issues.
• Capability to lift at least 50 pounds when assisting in the maintenance stock room or receiving dock.
