This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kenya.
• Develop and execute the organization's Public Relations, Earned Media, and Corporate Communications Strategy.
• Cultivate and sustain relationships with journalists, editors, media outlets, podcast hosts, and other influential figures.
• Handle media inquiries, interviews, press releases, media statements, pitches, and thought-leadership opportunities.
• Prepare executives for interviews, speaking engagements, and significant announcements, including speeches, talking points, and briefing materials.
• Create clear and consistent messaging for major initiatives, partnerships, products, reports, and organizational developments.
• Lead reputation monitoring and management, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and provide counsel to senior leadership.
• Develop and coordinate crisis communication plans, response protocols, stakeholder messaging, and crisis preparedness exercises.
• Manage internal communications to ensure employees are informed, aligned, and connected to organizational priorities.
• Coordinate communications with Network Members, Strategic Partners, and affiliated organizations.
• Establish communication metrics, dashboards, and regular reports to evaluate visibility, credibility, reputation, and strategic impact.
• Oversee relationships and performance of external PR agencies and communication partners.
• A Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, media relations, or journalism.
• Proven experience leading communication initiatives across various countries, regions, or global markets.
• Exceptional skills in writing, editing, storytelling, and executive communication.
• Strong background in media relations, reputation management, crisis, and issues communications.
• Demonstrated ability to create compelling media stories and secure significant earned media opportunities.
• Excellent strategic thinking, stakeholder management, project management, and relationship-building abilities.
• Sound judgment, discretion, initiative, and the capability to work independently in a dynamic global environment.
• Experience in philanthropy, nonprofit services, financial services, fintech, impact investing, or international development is a plus.
• Familiarity with PR and media monitoring platforms such as Cision, Meltwater, Muck Rack, or similar tools is desirable.
• Willingness to work approximately 1400–2200 EAT and exceed 8 hours per day as needed during peak periods.
