Public Health Research Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee all tasks and activities within the multi-disciplinary study team.

• Keep the project plan, schedule, and risk register up to date.

• Recognize and escalate project risks and issues before they impact timelines or deliverables.

• Prepare meeting agendas, facilitate discussions, and accurately record minutes.

• Document action items and decisions, and ensure tasks are tracked to completion.

• Maintain a log of ongoing items and proactively follow up with responsible parties.

• Guarantee all project deliverables, including those from subcontractors, comply with contractual and quality standards and are submitted punctually.

• Monitor deliverable status against the project schedule and highlight risks to timely submission.

• Assist in internal quality reviews and manage version control of deliverables before submission.

• Support the creation of NDAs, teaming agreements, and subcontracts with partner organizations and subject-matter experts.

• Evaluate subcontractor performance against their Statement of Work (SOW) and escalate any performance issues.

• Act as the primary point of contact for subcontractors and SMEs on administrative and scheduling matters.

• Organize and maintain current project files and documentation (SharePoint, shared drives, or similar).

• Ensure prompt and professional communication with clients, collaborators, and partners.

• Write and edit communications, status updates, and summaries for both technical and non-technical audiences.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in public health or a closely related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in managing research projects within a healthcare, life sciences, clinical research, or government setting.

• Proven experience in managing deliverables, schedules, and multiple concurrent workstreams to meet deadlines.

• Experience in coordinating subcontractors, vendors, or external partners, including monitoring performance against scope.

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of producing clear, professional materials for clients, technical experts, and leadership.

• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail, especially pertaining to compliance and documentation.

• Proficient in standard project and document management tools (e.g., Microsoft Office/Teams/SharePoint, project trackers).

• Must have authorization to work in the United States.

• Must be willing and able to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.

• Preferred: Master’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a closely related field.

• Preferred: Experience in supporting federal government contracts.

• Preferred: Familiarity with real-world data and medical device safety research.

• Preferred: PMP certification or equivalent formal project management training.

• Preferred: Knowledge of RWD sources and vendors.

• Preferred: Experience collaborating directly with epidemiologists, biostatisticians, clinicians, or other healthcare SMEs on RWD projects.
