Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or across the lifespan, as assigned.

• Evaluate patients’ mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and concerns.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.

• Differentiate between physiologically and psychologically-based disorders and diagnose accurately.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests such as EKGs, laboratory work, and other necessary evaluations.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients on the associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor patients’ medication adherence, side effects, and therapeutic outcomes.

• Assess patients’ behaviors and responses to treatment.

• Interact effectively with challenging patients and deescalate situations verbally when required.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Provide education to patients and their families regarding mental health conditions, treatment strategies, and medications.

• Record medical and psychological histories, physical assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation, including FMLA and other approved forms.

• Arrange and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and maintain accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Utilize recommended references and seek clinical guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently possesses a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health fields.

• Open to acquiring additional state licensure.

• Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques.

• Commitment to partnering with clients to achieve their goals.

• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health care and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfortable working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 years and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or substance abuse dual-diagnoses.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Capable of conducting and utilizing comprehensive assessments.

• Demonstrated ability to maintain timely and quality documentation; experience with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Authorized to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance for work eligibility.

• For clinicians with a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is necessary and must be maintained.

• Spanish-speaking and proficiency in other languages are preferred but not mandatory.

• Previous telehealth experience is advantageous.

• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
