Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Deliver care to adolescent and adult patients, or across the lifespan, as assigned.

• Evaluate patients’ mental and physical status based on presenting symptoms and complaints.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and mental health conditions.

• Differentiate between physiologically- and psychologically-based disorders and diagnose correctly.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for patients experiencing chronic or acute mental disorders.

• Order necessary diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients on associated risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor medication use, side effects, and treatment outcomes.

• Assess patient behavior and response to treatment.

• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to create, implement, and evaluate treatment plans.

• Inform patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and medications.

• Maintain documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes.

• Complete administrative documentation related to patient care, including FMLA and Brave-approved forms.

• Schedule and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Conduct patient visits and ensure accurate documentation in the EHR.

• Practice in accordance with HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, national standards of care, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from recommended references and the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director.

• Effectively engage with difficult patients and deescalate situations verbally when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Currently holds a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health settings.

• Willingness to pursue additional state licensures.

• Experience with Motivational Interviewing.

• Commitment to working collaboratively with clients to reach their goals.

• Must have experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Must be comfortable working with patients across the lifespan (ages 13 years and older).

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual-diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Competence in treatment planning.

• Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and utilize them effectively.

• Timely and accurate documentation; experience with EHR systems.

• Adaptable to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Awareness of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Must be eligible to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or work eligibility assistance is available.

• Clinicians with a Florida or New York license must have an active DEA registration, which must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.
