Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, PMHNP

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Illinois.

📋 Description

• Evaluate adolescent and adult patients, or individuals across the lifespan, based on their presenting symptoms and concerns.

• Identify psychiatric disorders and differentiate between physiologically and psychologically based conditions.

• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to develop, implement, and assess treatment plans.

• Provide individual psychotherapy for both chronic and acute mental health disorders.

• Request diagnostic tests, including EKGs and laboratory work.

• Prescribe psychotropic medications, including controlled substances, while educating patients regarding their risks, benefits, and side effects.

• Monitor medication usage, side effects, treatment responses, and patient behavior.

• Verbally de-escalate challenging patients when necessary.

• Provide education to patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment plans, and medications.

• Maintain thorough documentation of medical and psychological histories, assessments, diagnoses, treatment plans, prescriptions, and outcomes in the EHR.

• Complete necessary administrative documentation related to patient care, including FMLA and Brave-approved forms.

• Organize and coordinate follow-up appointments and ongoing treatment requirements.

• Adhere to HIPAA regulations, 42 CFR Part 2, national care standards, and internal policies.

• Seek clinical guidance from the Clinical Director and/or Medical Director as needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner.

• Must possess a Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner license (PMHNP).

• Experience in Addiction and Mental Health is essential.

• Willingness to pursue additional state licensures.

• Familiarity with Motivational Interviewing techniques.

• Commitment to working collaboratively with clients to achieve their goals.

• Experience working with adults requiring general mental health and/or severe mental illness (SMI) treatment.

• Comfortable working with patients of all ages, from 13 years and older.

• Knowledge of mental health diagnoses and/or dual-diagnoses related to substance abuse.

• Proficient in treatment planning.

• Capability to conduct and utilize comprehensive assessments effectively.

• Timeliness and quality in documentation; experienced with EHR systems.

• Adaptability to technology, including telehealth software; comfortable with video communication.

• Understanding of and compliance with HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2 regulations.

• Eligibility to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship or assistance for work eligibility is available.

• For clinicians with a Florida or New York license, an active DEA registration is required and must be obtained and maintained by the clinician.

• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred; knowledge of other languages is a plus.

• Previous telehealth experience is preferred.

• Experience in the Community Mental Health sector is preferred.
