Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Virtual

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +3 more states.

📋 Description

• Perform thorough psychiatric evaluations utilizing evidence-based assessment tools.

• Diagnose and manage mental health disorders such as anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, OCD, ADHD, and personality disorders.

• Prescribe, oversee, and monitor psychiatric medications in accordance with clinical guidelines and state regulations.

• Evaluate the effectiveness of treatments, monitor side effects, and ensure patient adherence.

• Create, implement, and modify personalized treatment plans.

• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary behavioral health team.

• Coordinate care with therapists and other healthcare professionals.

• Refer patients to additional services as clinically warranted.

• Educate patients about their diagnoses, treatment alternatives, and medications.

• Maintain precise, timely, and comprehensive clinical documentation.

• Ensure adherence to legal, ethical, and organizational standards.

• Engage in quality improvement initiatives within a virtual care setting.

⛳️ Requirements

• Active licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Registered Nurse (RN) in the relevant states.

• Multistate licensure is preferred, focusing primarily on Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.

• At least two (2) years of experience as a practicing Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

• Experience in treating patients aged 13 and older.

• Strong clinical understanding of psychiatric disorders and evidence-based treatment strategies.

• Proven expertise in managing psychiatric medications.

• Exceptional clinical judgment, communication, and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to establish rapport in a virtual care environment.

• Dedication to delivering compassionate, culturally responsive, and patient-centered care.

• Familiarity with Athena One EHR and remote clinical workflows.

• Active licensure, DEA registration, and prescribing authority in all states where patients are treated.

• Maintain necessary credentials and adhere to applicable state and federal regulations.

• Virginia providers needing physician collaboration must secure and sustain a collaborating physician at their own expense.
