This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Conduct psychiatric evaluations for Medicaid patients.
• Manage and prescribe psychotropic medications effectively.
• Provide ongoing psychiatric care to clients.
• Facilitate confidential virtual sessions from a HIPAA-compliant home office environment.
• Develop a caseload through referrals from insurers, universities, and community providers.
• Collaborate with therapists and other providers as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
• Make independent clinical decisions based on patient needs.
• Accept referrals and schedule availability according to personal capacity.
• Possess an active, unrestricted PMHNP license in good standing in Virginia.
• Hold national board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
• Have prescriptive authority.
• Maintain an active DEA registration.
• Obtain Virginia controlled substance registration.
• Experience in providing psychiatric evaluations and prescribing psychotropic medications.
• Carry own malpractice coverage ($1M per occurrence / $3M aggregate).
• Familiarity with EHR systems and other digital tools.
• Maintain a quiet, HIPAA-compliant home office.
• Own a computer and have reliable internet access for confidential virtual sessions.
• Fluency in English is required.
• Proficiency in Spanish is preferred.
• Additional language skills are a plus.
• Demonstrate strong clinical judgment in managing psychiatric conditions across diverse populations.
• Adopt a patient-centered approach to medication management and treatment planning.
• Experience in collaborating with therapists and other providers in a multidisciplinary care team.
• Commitment to promoting equity in mental health access for Medicaid populations.
• Enjoy complete flexibility: set your own hours and availability, choose which referrals to accept, and build a suitable caseload.
• Receive administrative support for insurance, billing, and credentialing processes.
• Access a robust referral network through insurers, universities, and community providers.
• Get assistance in connecting with an independently licensed collaborating physician where a practice agreement is required in Virginia.
• Participate in optional peer consultations with other independent clinicians.
• Work within a remote practice model.
