
Provider Educator – Foreign Medical Graduate

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Minnesota.
• Provide analysis, reporting, education, training, and ongoing support to clinicians and care teams to ensure accurate and comprehensive documentation of patient conditions.
• Conduct pre-visit chart assessments and organize pertinent clinical information.
• Identify opportunities for documentation improvement, coding, and risk adjustment for clinician review and consideration.
• Perform validations and audits of charts post-visit.
• Initiate appropriate clarification queries and deliver targeted feedback based on documentation trends.
• Create and deliver educational content on clinical documentation, MEAT, HCC and non-HCC conditions, ICD-10-CM coding, CMS risk-adjustment requirements, and organizational standards.
• Develop and revise presentations, quick-reference materials, case studies, and other educational tools.
• Act as a resource for questions related to documentation and coding.
• Facilitate both remote and in-person educational sessions.
• Conduct monthly CDI audits and additional reviews.
• Analyze performance indicators related to documentation, coding, queries, and risk adjustment.
• Create personalized education and documentation enhancement plans.
• Maintain profiles for clinician education.
• Monitor the effectiveness of educational initiatives and escalate ongoing issues.
• Support the onboarding process and follow-up for newly hired clinicians.
• Collaborate with clinicians, care teams, clinic leadership, coding and billing departments, and operational teams.
• Participate in team meetings, coding discussions, interdisciplinary meetings, and other assigned gatherings.
• Travel to designated clinic locations or organizational events as necessary.
• Safeguard confidential information and adhere to HIPAA, privacy regulations, and organizational policies.
• Raise any concerns regarding documentation, coding, privacy, or compliance issues.
• Foreign Medical Graduate, or an active RN license, as allowed by organizational and state regulations.
• Certification as a Risk Adjustment Coder or the ability to secure CRC certification within six months of hiring.
• Proficiency in reviewing medical records, analyzing documentation trends, and providing clear, constructive, and clinically relevant feedback.
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation, facilitation, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Capability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate effectively across various teams.
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and processes in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to travel as needed.
• A minimum of two years of experience in risk adjustment, clinical documentation integrity, provider education, medical coding, clinical practice, nursing, or a related healthcare field (preferred).
• Certified Professional Coder certification (preferred).
• Familiarity with acute and chronic conditions, clinical terminology, documentation principles, ICD-10-CM coding, and risk-adjustment models, including CMS-HCC V28 (preferred).
• Experience in providing documentation and coding education to treating clinicians (preferred).
• Background in Medicare Advantage, value-based care, clinical documentation integrity, risk adjustment, or clinician-performance programs (preferred).
• Understanding of documentation and coding requirements for HCC and non-HCC conditions (preferred).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office or similar spreadsheet and presentation software (preferred).
• Strong clinical reasoning, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities (preferred).
• Experience with athenahealth is a plus.
