This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Texas.

📋 Description

• Assist AECOM’s Energy Business Line Engineering Center of Excellence in initiatives related to grid modernization programs, projects, and pursuits.

• Execute electrical engineering design tasks for assigned projects.

• Guide and mentor electrical engineers within the High Voltage/Power team.

• Collaborate with the Project Engineer and Project Manager to develop design schedules and budgets.

• Conduct power system studies and coordinate system protection settings.

• Produce basis-of-design documentation for protection settings and relay configurations.

• Offer support during construction, startup, and commissioning phases of projects.

• Review engineering work completed by colleagues.

• Participate in client meetings.

• Occasionally travel to client and project sites for data collection and site inspections.

• Mentor early-career engineers and lead internal training sessions upon request.

• Act as the lead engineer for projects of various sizes.

• Provide specialized technical contributions to studies and designs.

• Develop procedures for studies and designs.

• Engage in interdisciplinary reviews of project deliverables.

• Create construction cost estimates and technical-effort assessments.

• Conduct quality-control reviews of design calculations and drawings.

• Prepare sections of technical specifications.

• Contribute to engineering budgets and scheduling plans.


⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 6 years of relevant experience, or a proven equivalency of experience and/or education.

• 6 years of relevant experience in protection and controls within electrical engineering.

• Professional Engineering licensure is preferred.

• A minimum of 8 years of experience with at least 2 years in a project lead role is preferred.

• Familiarity with FERC and NERC requirements.

• Experience with IEC61850 standards.

• A successful history of collaborating with remote teams.

• Experience in complete EPC and Design/Build projects from inception to completion.

• Field experience in plant startup and commissioning.

• Proficiency in power systems analysis software such as SKM, EasyPower, or Etap.

• Relay coordination experience using ASPEN OneLiner.

• Experience in developing native relay setting files.

• Knowledge in distribution automation.

• Experience working within collaborative 3D model environments (e.g., Navisworks).

• Must possess authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship for US Employment Authorization is not offered.
