Property Adjuster, South-Central Wisconsin

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Wisconsin.

📋 Description

• Manage property claims within the assigned authority while exercising independent judgment and discretion.

• Communicate with policyholders regarding their property claims.

• Conduct investigations, interview insured individuals and witnesses, assess damage, and prepare estimates.

• Assess coverage and total claim value, making recommendations on coverage.

• Set and maintain sufficient reserves.

• Collect and review reports, statements, records, and related materials.

• Determine payments and issue checks or decline payment as necessary.

• Document claim files and submit final reports for closure.

• Identify subrogation situations and initiate appropriate actions.

• Serve the assigned territory and bring claims to resolution.

• Collaborate with agents and district sales managers.

• Handle claims involving damage or coverage, including potentially litigated claims.

• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel as necessary.

• Develop and apply knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures.

• Attend industry-related training sessions on policy changes, interpretation, and legislation.

• Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of hire.

• Participate on the Catastrophe Team as required.

• Complete a 15-week Property Adjuster Trainee program which includes classroom, hands-on, and field training in Erie, Pennsylvania.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is required for the Property Adjuster Trainee position.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred for the Property Adjuster Trainee role.

• Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required; or High School Diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or a Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required; or a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required.

• Must reside in the assigned territory unless a company-approved change is made.

• Ability to drive and travel regularly within the assigned territory.

• Catastrophe duty, including travel on short notice to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.

• Willingness to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses.

• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment.

• Ability to climb and access heights.

• Frequent driving, lifting/moving 0–20 lbs, lifting/moving 20–50 lbs, and manual data entry/computer use.

• Occasional pushing/pulling/moving wheeled objects or equipment.
