Property Adjuster II – Eastern Virginia

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Exercise independent judgment or discretion in managing all varieties of property claims.

• Assist or represent the claims supervisor as needed.

• Conduct thorough investigations and interviews.

• Inspect damages by traveling to affected sites within the designated territory or elsewhere as required.

• Prepare estimates and provide recommendations.

• Address coverage inquiries and manage litigation.

• Establish and maintain reserves.

• Review reports and associated materials.

• Direct expert involvement as necessary.

• Assess coverage and determine claim values.

• Issue or deny payments as appropriate.

• Negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when needed.

• Document claim files and submit reports for closure.

• Identify subrogation scenarios and initiate the necessary actions.

• Manage the assigned territory and bring claims to resolution.

• Engage with agents and district sales managers.

• Represent the company at legal proceedings when required.

• Complete industry-related training and participate in ongoing education regarding policy changes, interpretation, and legislation.

• Assist in training new claims adjusters.

• Participate in the Catastrophe Team when necessary.

• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

⛳️ Requirements

• Property Adjuster Trainee: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Property Adjuster I: High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required; or High School Diploma or GED along with successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or a Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• Property Adjuster II: High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required; or a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required.

• The incumbent must reside in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company.

• Must have the ability to drive/travel regularly within the assigned territory.

• Required to serve on catastrophe duty, including potential short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.

• Must be willing to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses.

• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

• The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting aid equipment is necessary.

• Capability to climb/access heights is essential.

• Frequent driving ability is required.

• A Bachelor’s degree is preferred for Property Adjuster Trainee.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.
