Property Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Pennsylvania.

📋 Description

• Manage property claims within the specified authority limits.

• Reach out to policyholders regarding their property claims.

• Conduct thorough investigations and interview insured individuals and witnesses.

• Assess damages and prepare cost estimates.

• Review coverage details and provide recommendations.

• Establish and uphold sufficient reserves.

• Collect and examine reports, statements, records, and relevant materials.

• Determine claim payouts and issue checks or deny payments as necessary.

• Maintain documentation of claim files and submit final reports for closure.

• Recognize subrogation situations and take appropriate action.

• Manage an assigned territory and ensure claims are resolved.

• Collaborate with agents and district sales managers.

• Handle claims related to damages or coverage, including potentially litigated claims.

• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel.

• Cultivate and implement knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures.

• Attend industry-related training sessions and other educational opportunities.

• Complete Technical Learning Center Training successfully within the first year of employment.

• Participate in the Catastrophe Team as needed.

• Finish a 15-week trainee program that includes classroom instruction, hands-on experience, and field training in Erie, Pennsylvania.

⛳️ Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent is mandatory for Property Adjuster Trainee roles.

• A Bachelor's degree is preferred for Property Adjuster Trainee candidates.

• Property Adjuster I: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent; alternatively, a High School Diploma or GED combined with successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or a Bachelor's Degree.

• Property Adjuster II: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent; alternatively, a Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent.

• Residency in the assigned territory is required unless a change is approved by the company.

• Must be available for catastrophe duty, including potential short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Commitment to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is essential.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.

• Must be willing to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses.

• A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required.

• Capability to drive/travel frequently within the assigned territory.

• Use of personal protective equipment is mandatory.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs with the aid of lifting equipment.

• Capability to climb and access heights.

• Ability to perform frequent driving, lifting/moving, and computer/data-entry tasks.
