Property Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ohio.

📋 Description

• Manage property claims within the assigned level of authority.

• Communicate with policyholders regarding their property claims.

• Conduct investigations, interview insured parties and witnesses, assess damage, and prepare estimates.

• Assess coverage and total claim value; make payment determinations and issue or decline payments.

• Establish and uphold adequate reserves.

• Gather and review reports, statements, records, and related materials.

• Document claim files and submit final reports for closure.

• Identify subrogation scenarios and take appropriate actions.

• Manage assigned territory and finalize claims.

• Collaborate with agents and district sales managers.

• Address property claims related to damage or coverage issues, including potentially litigated claims.

• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel.

• Develop and implement knowledge of property-claim estimating practices and procedures.

• Attend industry-related training sessions and other educational opportunities.

• Successfully complete Technical Learning Center Training within one year of employment.

• Participate in the Catastrophe Team as necessary.

• Complete the 15-week Property Adjuster Trainee program, which includes classroom instruction, hands-on training, and field experience in Erie, PA.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent is required.

• High School Diploma or GED with successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education is necessary.

• A Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• The incumbent must reside in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company.

• Must be willing to serve on catastrophe duty, which may involve short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.

• Willingness to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses is essential.

• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are required.

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting aids is required.

• Capability to climb or access heights is necessary.

• Frequent driving capability is needed.

• Ability to lift/move items weighing 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs.

• Proficiency in manual keying, data entry, information input, and computer use is required.

• Ability to push, pull, and move wheeled objects and equipment is necessary.

• Regular and predictable attendance is required.
