Property Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Manage property claims within assigned authority limits.

• Communicate with policyholders regarding their property claims.

• Conduct thorough investigations and interview both insured individuals and witnesses.

• Assess damage and create estimates for repairs.

• Analyze coverage, claim details, and overall claim value.

• Establish and maintain sufficient reserves.

• Acquire and evaluate reports, statements, records, and related documentation.

• Determine payments and issue checks or deny payment as necessary.

• Document claim files and prepare final reports for closure.

• Recognize subrogation opportunities and initiate appropriate actions.

• Manage an assigned territory and ensure claims are resolved.

• Collaborate with agents and district sales managers.

• Handle claims that involve damage or coverage issues, including those that may lead to litigation.

• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys or coordinate litigation with defense counsel.

• Develop and apply expertise in property-claim estimating practices and procedures.

• Participate in industry-related training sessions and other educational opportunities.

• Complete Technical Learning Center Training successfully within one year of hire.

• Engage with the Catastrophe Team when needed.

⛳️ Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and two years of claims handling experience, or an equivalent combination is required.

• High School Diploma or GED with successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education.

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.

• The incumbent must reside in the assigned territory unless a change is authorized by the company.

• Must be available for catastrophe duty, potentially requiring travel on short notice for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.

• Must be willing to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses.

• Valid driver's license and a good driving record are required.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting assistance equipment.

• Capability to drive frequently and perform tasks involving lifting, climbing/accessing heights, pushing/pulling, and computer/data-entry activities.
