Property Adjuster

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Kentucky.

📋 Description

• Exercise independent judgment and discretion in managing various types of property claims.

• Provide assistance or represent the claims supervisor when necessary.

• Conduct thorough investigations and interviews.

• Inspect damages by traveling to affected sites within the designated territory or as required.

• Prepare estimates and recommendations for claim evaluation.

• Address coverage inquiries and handle litigation matters.

• Establish and maintain reserve amounts.

• Review reports and associated documentation.

• Direct the involvement of experts as needed.

• Assess coverage and determine the value of claims.

• Issue payments or deny claims accordingly.

• Negotiate with plaintiff attorneys as necessary.

• Document claim files and compile reports for closure.

• Identify subrogation opportunities and initiate necessary actions.

• Manage the assigned territory and ensure claims are resolved efficiently.

• Engage with agents and district sales managers.

• Represent the company in legal proceedings when required.

• Complete industry-related training and stay updated on policy changes, interpretations, and legislation.

• Assist in training new claims adjusters.

• Participate in the Catastrophe Team as needed.

• Maintain a regular and predictable attendance record.

⛳️ Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required for the Property Adjuster Trainee position.

• A bachelor’s degree is preferred for the Property Adjuster Trainee position.

• For Property Adjuster I: A high school diploma or GED along with two years of claims handling experience, or an equivalent; or a high school diploma or GED and successful completion of ERIE-sponsored formal education; or a bachelor’s degree.

• For Property Adjuster II: A high school diploma or GED with five years of claims handling experience, or an equivalent; or a bachelor’s degree with two years of claims handling experience, or an equivalent.

• Must reside within the assigned territory unless a change is authorized by the company.

• A willingness to pursue and complete Technical Learning Center Training is required.

• Successful completion of AIC 33 and AIC 35 is preferred.

• A willingness to obtain and maintain any necessary licenses is essential.

• A valid driver’s license and a good driving record are mandatory.

• Ability to drive and travel regularly within the designated territory is necessary.

• Must be available for catastrophe duty, which may include short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks.

• Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required.

• Ability to lift over 50 lbs using lifting assistance equipment.

• Capability to climb and access heights.

• Frequent driving is a requirement of the position.

• Ability to lift and move items weighing between 0–20 lbs and 20–50 lbs.

• Proficiency in manual keying, data entry, and computer use is necessary.

• Ability to push, pull, and move wheeled objects and equipment is required.
