This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.
• Collaborate with Construction Managers and Project Management teams regarding project costs, financial exposure, and associated risks.
• Oversee and convey budget status, expenditures, forecasts, scope modifications, and financial performance.
• Recognize cost risks and opportunities while recommending proactive financial strategies.
• Ensure cost controls are maintained across labor, expenses, subcontractors, and other financial outlays.
• Evaluate general contractor cost reports and verify project financial data.
• Reconcile actual expenses against GMP, Schedule of Values, approved budgets, and commitments.
• Assist with contract administration, including retention, terms and conditions, insurance, allowances, contingencies, and incentives.
• Monitor change orders, invoices, payments, lien releases, and relevant documentation.
• Facilitate change-control, cost-review, and project financial meetings.
• Aid in the preparation of monthly pay applications.
• Create internal project cost reporting packages.
• Generate project progress and cost reports for stakeholders and leadership.
• Support quarterly and fiscal year-end analysis, forecasting, accruals, and project status validation.
• Track cost impacts, approvals, commitments, and forecast modifications.
• Monitor performance against budget and forecasts, escalating significant variances or risks as necessary.
• Maintain thorough, up-to-date, and audit-ready financial documentation.
• Assist Construction with cost analysis, reporting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• At least 3+ years of relevant experience in project cost management, project controls, construction finance, or a related area.
• Proficient in forecasting, cost reporting, change management, accruals, and earned value analysis.
• Strong grasp of construction cost control principles and project financial management.
• Experience in reviewing project budgets, cost reports, commitments, invoices, change orders, and forecasts.
• Familiarity with GMP structures and Schedules of Values is preferred.
• Background in contract administration and change-control processes.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial reporting capabilities.
• Ability to identify cost trends, variances, and risks, and effectively communicate findings to project stakeholders.
• High attention to detail and the capacity to maintain accuracy across various projects and competing priorities.
• Capability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines simultaneously.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Microsoft Project or similar project management/project controls tools is preferred.
• Experience in construction, real estate development, mission-critical environments, or data centers is preferred.
• Ability to work independently in a remote setting while ensuring effective communication and accountability.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% based on business and project requirements.
