Project Accounting Leader

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee the project accounting function for a portfolio of complex customer contracts valued in the billions.

• Formulate and implement the vision, operational model, and talent strategy for the Project Accounting team.

• Cultivate a high-performing team through mentoring, succession planning, and performance management.

• Create uniform accounting policies, governance, and scalable procedures across various business units.

• Guarantee precise revenue recognition for customer contracts and collaborate with Technical Accounting on intricate accounting conclusions, contract modifications, claims, variable consideration, and estimates.

• Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual project accounting closing activities.

• Evaluate project financial outcomes, forecasts, balance sheet accounts, and key estimates.

• Track project profitability, margin trends, contract assets, contract liabilities, reserves, and associated risks.

• Assist with external reporting and SEC disclosures as necessary.

• Implement Lean principles to standardize and continually enhance project accounting processes.

• Promote innovation through ERP-based tools, analytics, artificial intelligence, and other digital platforms.

• Shorten closing timelines while improving quality and control.

• Act as a strategic ally to Operations, Project Management, Commercial Finance FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Executive Leadership.

• Engage in project reviews and operational governance meetings.

• Maintain SOX-compliant internal controls and ensure adherence to U.S. GAAP, company policies, and regulatory standards.

• Collaborate with Internal Audit and external auditors to drive the resolution of audit findings and enhance processes.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related discipline.

• Over 15 years of experience in project accounting or related controllership functions.

• Extensive experience and knowledge in Electrification project accounting activities.

• Experience with multi-country and multi-entity finance operations.

• Proven ability to document processes and establish standard work (experience in process mapping/VSM is preferable).

• Strong data analysis capabilities (advanced Excel; familiarity with Power BI or similar tools is a plus).

• Highly analytical with robust problem-solving abilities.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills.

• Highly collaborative with a proven ability to work across finance structures.

• Resilient in challenging situations.

• Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, with experience managing a team.

• Proven ability to analyze and resolve issues.
