Programs Manager

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in North Carolina.

📋 Description

• Manage programmatic initiatives within a designated geographic region

• Execute AFSP-sanctioned prevention, education, loss and healing, and research connection programs both in-person and online

• Enhance program delivery and effectiveness in alignment with organizational objectives

• Recruit, train, and oversee volunteers throughout the chapter's territory

• Strengthen the volunteer network to maximize program impact

• Monitor delivered programs and individuals reached using Program Tracker

• Broaden outreach to diverse communities that are disproportionately affected by suicide

• Convey AFSP’s impact to community leaders, stakeholders, and organizations

• Address program inquiries and requests for presentations and training sessions

• Offer resources to survivors and those with lived experiences

• Supply programmatic content for sponsorship and grant proposals

• Assist chapter advocacy initiatives

• Develop budgets for program-related activities

• Collaborate with vendors, municipalities, and venues for presentations and training

• Support the chapter programs and education committee under supervisory guidance

• Relay AFSP National program initiatives and strategic plans to volunteers

• Travel frequently within the designated service area and participate in the annual Chapter Staff Meeting

• Report to an Executive Director or Area Director and collaborate with National Teams

• Execute additional duties as assigned

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree

• A minimum of 2 years of experience in community outreach, program coordination, volunteer management, and non-profit work

• 1-2 years of experience in recruiting and training volunteers

• Proven experience working directly with diverse populations and community partners

• Proficient in technology with the ability to use and learn various platforms for remote work and virtual presentations

• Preferred proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Virtuous

• Capability to travel within the designated service territory and throughout the relevant state(s)

• Must have a driver’s license and/or the ability to drive within the assigned state(s)

• Must be able to rent a vehicle on behalf of AFSP as necessary

• Willingness to work evenings and weekends when required

• Ability to maintain a full-time schedule with regular attendance

• Strong public speaking abilities

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Capacity to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines

• Ability to work with individuals who are grieving or experiencing a crisis

• Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
