Program Manager II – Engineering

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Design and implement custom System-on-Modules (SOMs) and Single Board Computers (SBCs).

• Oversee complete program management for typically five simultaneous custom SOM/SBC co-development projects from initiation to production release.

• Establish and uphold project timelines, milestone plans, and financial budgets.

• Manage priorities, direction, and resource allocation across ongoing programs.

• Identify, monitor, mitigate, and escalate project risks with actionable recommendations.

• Track actual expenditures against budgets throughout the project lifecycle.

• Configure and maintain projects within Jira, Confluence, and BigPicture.

• Keep project plans and related documentation in accordance with engineering protocols.

• Produce and share weekly summary reports for internal stakeholders and external clients.

• Provide program status updates to senior leadership, addressing schedule health, budget variances, and key risks.

• Act as the primary project management liaison for clients throughout the co-development process.

• Lead globally distributed engineering teams across hardware, software, RF, and mechanical disciplines.

• Coordinate shared resources with department heads.

• Oversee engineering, manufacturing, supply chain, and quality assurance activities.

• Ensure documentation follows engineering procedures and quality standards.

• Support quality and safety systems while contributing to the continuous enhancement of project management practices.

⛳️ Requirements

• Expert-level knowledge of Atlassian tools: Jira, Confluence, and BigPicture (or equivalent extensions).

• Capability to configure and manage Atlassian projects from the ground up.

• Strong expertise in project financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, variance tracking, and cost reporting.

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills across functional teams.

• Ability to manage customer relationships at a technical level.

• Proficient in overseeing multiple hardware development programs simultaneously in a fast-paced, globally distributed setting.

• Strong analytical abilities and capacity to transform project data into actionable reports.

• In-depth understanding of hardware product development interdependencies from schematic design to manufacturing hand-off.

• Exceptional attention to detail and disciplined time management.

• Familiarity with embedded hardware development processes, including PCB design cycles, BOM management, NPI, and DVT/PVT stages.

• Preference for candidates with knowledge of SOM/SBC architectures and custom hardware co-development programs.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent professional experience in lieu of a degree.

• A minimum of 5 years of program or project management experience in an electronics design and manufacturing environment; hardware development experience is essential.

• Direct experience in managing customer co-development programs is highly preferred.

• PMP or PMI certification is an advantage.

• Experience with NXP i.MX, TI, or similar embedded processor platforms is a plus.
