Program Director – Mainframe Optimization, Delivery

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Oversee strategic client interactions centered on mainframe optimization, program delivery, and pre-sales solutions.

• Provide expert advice to clients regarding mainframe optimization, modernization, and transformation projects.

• Manage comprehensive program delivery, encompassing planning, execution, governance, and stakeholder management across multiple engagements.

• Deliver project and program management for successful project execution.

• Aid in solution design, scoping, proposal creation, and client presentations during the pre-sales phase.

• Create and uphold program plans, timelines, budgets, resource allocations, and forecasts utilizing Jira, Asana, MS Project, and Smartsheet.

• Oversee the installation, testing, and implementation of mainframe systems and software.

• Propel automation, cost optimization, performance enhancement, and continuous improvement in z/OS, tape management, scheduling, security, and monitoring environments.

• Convert technical concepts into business value for stakeholders who may not have a technical background.

• Conduct post-project evaluations and apply lessons learned for future projects.

• Mentor junior consultants and engage in knowledge sharing and thought leadership activities.

• Ensure adherence to technical standards, best practices, and client specifications.

• Supervise multiple projects and align execution strategies with long-term business goals.

• Cultivate client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and advocate for customers.

• Validate business requirements, objectives, success metrics, and deliverables with clients.

• Manage communications between Ensono, clients, vendors, and suppliers.

• Establish program governance, interpret contractual obligations, and ensure executable delivery frameworks.

• Direct project teams, resolve challenges, and manage cross-functional programs.

• Develop and oversee program P&L models; evaluate revenue, profitability, project financial outcomes, billing, and accounts receivable issues.

• Monitor milestones, deliverables, scope, scope changes, change control, risks, priorities, and concerns.

• Lead status meetings and generate monthly and quarterly reports on deliverables and program performance.

• Organize stakeholder meetings and identify new business opportunities within existing client engagements.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 10 years of experience in technology consulting, program management, or enterprise IT delivery.

• In-depth knowledge of mainframe technologies and operations (z/OS, scheduling tools, tape management, etc.).

• Proven track record in leading large-scale optimization or transformation initiatives.

• Strong expertise in client engagement, solution development, and pre-sales support.

• Proficient in project and program management tools (Jira, Asana, MS Project, Smartsheet).

• Outstanding communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Experience in managed services or hybrid IT environments.

• Knowledge of cloud integration and modernization strategies for legacy systems.

• Familiarity with the operational aspects of delivering complex hosting and IP services.

• A blend of consulting and operational experience.

• PMP or Agile certification is advantageous; PMP certification is considered a bonus qualification.
