Program Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in District of Columbia, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Provide strategic leadership and overarching direction for the Word & Deed program.

• Create and sustain program goals, implementation strategies, timelines, and priorities.

• Convert the program model into effective systems, processes, and practices for execution.

• Evaluate and enhance the program model based on participant feedback, evaluation results, emerging needs, and lessons learned.

• Ensure that program activities are in line with Urban Strategies’ mission, principles of Christian Community Development, and expectations of funders and partners.

• Identify opportunities, challenges, and risks within the program, and devise strategies to address them.

• Act as the primary internal owner and point of accountability for the implementation and outcomes of Word & Deed.

• Lead the recruitment and selection of participants.

• Foster relationships with pastoral leaders and congregations.

• Provide continuous support, accompaniment, and guidance to participants.

• Lead or facilitate cohort learning experiences.

• Coordinate with facilitators, subject matter experts, consultants, coaches, and other contributors.

• Develop and enhance curriculum, workbooks, discussion guides, and other resources for participants.

• Oversee program coordination, logistics, cohort sessions, events, and program grants.

• Maintain accurate documentation and records of the program.

• Manage the program budget and monitor expenses.

• Ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations.

• Create timely communications for participants, congregations, facilitators, partners, and internal stakeholders.

• Collaborate with communications staff to develop program stories, participant highlights, outcomes, and impact content.

• Assist in disseminating program learning and outcomes through presentations, written resources, conferences, and other avenues.

• Ensure grant reporting to foundations and other stakeholders.

• Contribute expertise to strategic fundraising, grant proposals, donor communications, and engagement with funders.

• Develop and sustain a sustainability strategy for the Word & Deed program.

⛳️ Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (Divinity, Ministry, Social Area, Administration, Education, etc.).

• More than 5 years of experience working directly with faith-based organizations, pastoral leaders, or diverse denominations.

• Experience in program coordination, program management, community development, leadership development, or a related field.

• Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of individuals.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

• Bilingual (Fluent in English and Spanish).

• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

• Proficient in project management.

• Competent in technology systems.

• Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team.

• Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality.

• Skilled in building new relationships and maintaining relational networks.

• Possess critical thinking skills with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and resolve issues.
