Program Director

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Virginia.

📋 Description

• Oversee programs and events for the local chapter of Blue Star Families, ensuring that program design and execution align with available funding opportunities.

• Assist with local fundraising efforts by identifying potential opportunities, creating proposals, nurturing relationships, and contributing to the chapter's revenue objectives.

• Identify and cultivate partnerships with private, public, and philanthropic organizations that support military families.

• Support local advocacy initiatives and other chapter activities.

• Establish and maintain relationships with local partners to facilitate program delivery and fundraising efforts.

• Educate community leaders using insights from the Annual Military Family Lifestyle Survey.

• Connect military families with community resources and partner programs.

• Develop a volunteer management program in collaboration with the Volunteer department.

• Implement marketing and communications strategies, including social media management, to enhance chapter membership.

• Create a strategic calendar for community events.

• Manage project management technologies and tools, including HIVE, Hive Brite, Salesforce, Google Workspace Suite, and Zoom.

• Engage volunteers, fellows, and interns in chapter initiatives.

• Assist the Senior Director of Chapter Relations with key initiatives.

• Monitor program and activity metrics and evaluations.

• Execute national policies at the community level.

• Promote strategic planning, collaboration, trust, and organizational growth.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

⛳️ Requirements

• A minimum of 4-5 years of relevant experience.

• A self-motivated individual with outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.

• Capacity to frequently lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.

• Willingness to travel locally and transport equipment and supplies for Chapter events and functions up to 60% of the time.

• An entrepreneurial mindset with a desire to engage potential partners in developing community-based solutions.

• Proactive in engaging community leaders and personnel on installations.

• Experience in volunteer recruitment and management.

• Background in business development and fundraising.

• Proficient in public speaking.

• Strong writing skills.

• Ability to facilitate meetings and guide towards decision-making.

• Experience in project management.

• Proficient with technology.

• May be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessary to fulfill key job functions.

• Limited out-of-town or overnight travel may be required for meetings, training, events, etc.

• Knowledge of the military family experience.

• Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems; familiarity with Salesforce is a plus.

• Familiarity with membership-driven organizations.
