Professional Fee Coder

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in New Jersey, +1 more state.

📋 Description

• Code and abstract professional fee hospital services provided by SLPG physicians based on medical records.

• Adhere to ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT-4, HCPCS II, AHA, AMA, and CMS guidelines.

• Use the 3M Encoder to verify RVUs and ensure proper CPT-4 procedure unbundling.

• Achieve and maintain a coding accuracy rate of 95% through quality assurance reviews.

• Meet daily productivity targets as specified.

• Stay updated with coding standards for inpatient, observation, consultant, surgical, critical care, and E&M physician services.

• Input abstracted physician data into specialty-specific databases.

• Facilitate educational sessions for medical staff regarding coding and documentation compliance.

• Collaborate with Medical Records, Finance, and Physician Billing to ensure a smooth flow of information.

• Conduct quarterly data quality assessments.

⛳️ Requirements

• Certification in RHIA, RHIT, CPC, or CCS-P is mandatory.

• Solid understanding of ICD-9/ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding is required.

• A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in CPT/HCPCS physician procedural coding is necessary.

• Prior experience with computerized patient record and coding systems is preferred.

• Must reside in Pennsylvania or New Jersey.

• Capability to sit for up to seven hours a day, with three to four hours at a stretch.

• Frequent typing and data entry using hands and fingers.

• Occasionally lift up to ten pounds.

• Rarely stoop, bend, or reach above shoulder height.

• Normal hearing and vision are required to fulfill job responsibilities.

• Application must include full legal name, current home address, and a detailed employment history for the past seven years.
