Product Engineering Lead – QVAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Switzerland.

📋 Description

• Direct the teams developing QV.AC features and enhancing the app experience utilizing the local AI stack.

• Report directly to the CTO and receive guidance from product management.

• Oversee daily operations of app and feature teams by removing obstacles, reviewing progress, and ensuring timely delivery.

• Establish and uphold a high standard for engineering performance, reliability, and well-structured APIs.

• Take ownership of the technical design for features and the API interface between the AI core and the application.

• Collaborate closely with AI research and advanced technology teams on code reviews, design, models, and inference.

• Work alongside product managers to transform vision and roadmap into clear, actionable tasks.

• Challenge impractical scopes and suggest more effective implementation strategies.

• Provide an engineering viewpoint on product decisions related to local model functionalities.

• Employ AI tools and rapid prototyping to test and validate concepts.

• Clarify team objectives and success metrics.

• Mentor team leads and enhance team operations and inter-team collaboration.

• Lead through example while empowering teams to take ownership of their work.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing engineers or engineering leads who deliver consumer products, preferably AI-driven applications.

• Strong intuition for product development.

• Understanding of applied AI and on-device limitations, such as model size, latency, memory usage, and battery consumption.

• Capability to differentiate between reliable features and mere demonstrations.

• Extensive use of AI tools and a passion for exploring new models and features.

• Profound expertise in JavaScript and React.

• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to provide and receive direct feedback.

• Preferred: experience with local or on-device inference, LLM evaluations, cross-platform mobile and desktop applications, or open-source contributions.

• Excellent communication skills in English.
