Product Engineering Lead, QVAC

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Spain.

📋 Description

• Lead teams in developing QV.AC features and enhancing the app experience using the local AI stack.

• Report directly to the CTO and receive guidance from the product team.

• Oversee engineering execution, technical strategies, and maintain engineering quality.

• Manage daily operations of app and feature teams by removing obstacles, reviewing progress, and ensuring timely delivery.

• Establish and uphold high standards for performance, reliability, and well-structured APIs.

• Take charge of the technical design of features and the API interaction between the AI core and the application.

• Collaborate closely with AI research and deep tech teams on code evaluations, design, models, and inference processes.

• Work in partnership with product managers to translate vision and roadmap into actionable, buildable tasks.

• Challenge impractical project scopes and propose more effective strategies.

• Provide an engineering perspective on product decisions that involve local models.

• Employ AI tools and rapid prototypes to test and validate concepts.

• Clarify team objectives and success metrics.

• Mentor team leaders and enhance team operational systems.

• Demonstrate leadership by contributing hands-on when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience managing engineers or engineering leads who deliver consumer products, preferably AI-driven applications.

• Strong understanding of product dynamics.

• Intuition for applied AI and constraints related to on-device operations, including model size, latency, memory, and battery usage.

• Skill in differentiating between reliable features and mere demonstrations.

• Extensive use of AI tools and an eagerness to experiment with new models and capabilities.

• Profound expertise in JavaScript and React.

• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and ability to both give and accept constructive feedback.

• Excellent communication skills in English.

• Preferred qualifications include experience with local or on-device inference, LLM evaluations, cross-platform mobile and desktop applications, or contributions to open source.
