Product Engineering Lead

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Canada.

📋 Description

• Oversee the daily operations of the API and frontend teams, facilitating progress, conducting reviews, and ensuring timely delivery.

• Establish and uphold a high standard in engineering concerning performance, reliability, and well-structured APIs.

• Take ownership of the technical design for features and manage the API interface between Keet's core and the application.

• Collaborate with the API team and specialized technology teams on code evaluations, design considerations, and engine-related tasks.

• Work alongside Keet's product managers to transform vision and roadmap into actionable, structured tasks.

• Address discrepancies between proposed scope and actual outcomes, advocating for improved implementation strategies.

• Provide an engineering perspective on product decisions concerning P2P functionalities.

• Leverage AI tools and rapid prototypes to test and validate concepts.

• Clarify team objectives and define success metrics.

• Mentor team leaders and enhance team processes and inter-team collaboration.

• Lead by example, offering hands-on contributions when necessary.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing engineers or engineering leads who deliver consumer products, preferably in chat, calling, or social applications.

• Strong understanding of product dynamics.

• Intuitive grasp of distributed and local-first systems.

• Knowledge of offline-first methodology and eventual consistency principles.

• Profound expertise in JavaScript and React.

• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and the capacity to give and receive constructive feedback.

• P2P protocol knowledge is not mandatory.

• Bonus: familiarity with local-first applications, CRDTs or synchronization engines, offline-capable mobile or desktop applications, or open-source contributions.
