Product Engineering Lead, 100% Remote

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in Ireland.

📋 Description

• Oversee the teams developing QV.AC features and enhancing the app experience utilizing the local AI stack.

• Report directly to the CTO and receive guidance from the product team.

• Manage the day-to-day operations of app and feature teams by removing obstacles, providing reviews, and ensuring consistent delivery progress.

• Establish and uphold exceptional engineering standards focusing on performance, reliability, and clean APIs.

• Take responsibility for the technical design of features and the API interface between the AI core and the application.

• Collaborate with AI research and deep tech teams on code evaluations, designs, models, and inference processes.

• Work together with product managers to transform vision and roadmap into actionable, buildable tasks.

• Question unrealistic project scopes and suggest improved implementation strategies.

• Provide insights on product decisions regarding local model capabilities and limitations.

• Utilize AI tools and rapid prototyping to validate innovative concepts.

• Clarify team objectives and success indicators.

• Mentor team leads and enhance team operating systems and inter-team collaboration.

• Maintain a balance of approximately 70% engineering leadership and 30% partnership with the product team.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proven experience in managing engineers or engineering leads responsible for delivering consumer products, preferably AI-driven applications.

• Strong understanding of product dynamics.

• Intuition regarding applied AI and on-device limitations, including model size, latency, memory usage, and battery consumption.

• Capability to differentiate between reliable features and mere demonstrations.

• Proficient in utilizing AI tools extensively and experimenting with new models and functionalities.

• In-depth knowledge of JavaScript and React.

• Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, resilience, and the ability to both give and accept constructive feedback.

• Preferred: experience with local or on-device inference, LLM evaluations, cross-platform mobile and desktop applications, or open source projects.

• Excellent communication skills in English.
