Product Engineer

This is a fully remote position, open to applicants in United States.

📋 Description

• Engage in deep reasoning regarding system architecture and make decisions that agents cannot.

• Assess implementation strategies instead of reviewing code.

• Detect architectural dependencies, potential risks, and breached subsystem agreements.

• Guide agents through multi-commit refactoring and require validation after each commit.

• Take ownership of a domain from start to finish, encompassing code, design documentation, skill references, and user-facing behavior.

• Evaluate issues and determine if proposed solutions align with the product's strategic direction.

• Instruct agents to execute approved tasks and review their results.

• Document architectural conventions and enhance agent skill documentation.

• Collaborate across the core CLI, extensions ecosystem, and acceptance test suite.

• Grasp real user scenarios and consider adversarial edge cases before releases.

⛳️ Requirements

• Proficiency in software architecture.

• Capability to analyze architectural trade-offs and subsystem agreements.

• Systems thinking with an understanding of constraints, invariants, and abstractions.

• Experience in production environments managing systems and addressing incidents.

• Quick adaptability to learn unfamiliar domains.

• Strong product judgment, including the ability to evaluate and appropriately decline feature requests.

• AI fluency: breaking down tasks for agents, critically assessing their output, and establishing conventions for agents.

• Must be available online from 8 AM to 5 PM Pacific Time.

• Submit a resume or LinkedIn profile along with a note detailing a system built, a tough decision made, and reflections on what could be done differently.

• The interview will involve solving a real issue from the tracker using the codebase.
